Hailing from Paiporta,Valencia, Spain, Mike Grau (Furious Planet) and Susana Munárriz created Mad Robot, a home studio, 8-track alternative rock recording project, self-releasing a number of demos: "Home Recording Hit Singles", with 22 songs released in 2011, "Gagarin EP" released
in 2011 with 7 songs and "I´m Sorry Dam Afraid I Ca ´t Do That" released in 2012 with 3 songs.
The first Mad Robot full length album recorded as a band was the selfrecorded and self produced “Blacklisted”, released in December of 2012 on Endoftheworldrecords with 15 songs and with 5 more plus songs recorded live in the CD edition.
Since then, the lineup has been filled out by Borja Boscà (Perro Grande, España, Mañana Tampoco, Portero Regateador) on bass and Roberto Timón (Furious Planet, La Muñeca De Sal, Corcobado) on drums,
In October of 2015 the band released their second album called "I Declare War" on Endoftheworldrecords and Borx Records, this collection of steamroller melodies, poisoned by guitars that are reminiscent of the best 90’s alternative US rock was produced by Mike Grau.
NOISE, POP in DIY
This record is without a doubt an example of DIY attitude, a home recording as an alternative to
the mainstream without compromising sound quality or compositions. As the creative force behind the band, Mike Grau’s talent for pop sensibility coupled with the contrasting noise that grips the sound, show that his imagination and gift for composing “has not diminished since Furious Planet” Eduardo Guillot, NEO Magazine.
Mike Grau released five albums in the 90’s with Furious Planet on Subterfuge Records,
Experience Records and Locomotive Music. The last few years have seen Mike go back to his
creative background and put a band together that can bring his songs to performance.
2013’s Blacklisted was well received as an album full of tracks that mix melody with an angry
guitar sound reminiscent of early Pixies or Nirvana. The debut album, recorded as a duo, was
highlighted for its “clean and catchy sound” (B-Sides Magazine) as well being praised for “the delicious complimentary contrasting nature of the duo” ” (Carlos Pérez de Ziriza).
In March of 2017 Mad Robot released thir third album "Pig", a comprehensive collection of their best songs, concretelly 14, but recorded unplugged between their home studio "The Room" and
their practice room, recorded with two microphones and produced by Mike Grau.
"Pig" Is a sort of amusement between the recording sessions of what will be their fourth album.
